Exploding box card.

Another quickie post, this time showing the exploding box card I made using The Most Wonderful Time of The Year Digi kit by Sarah Hurley at Jessica Sprague.

I can safely say it took me hours to do with all the fussy cutting but it really was worth it when my niece opened it.

I really hope you like this one as much as my niece did.

Thanks for popping by, C xx

Hello, it's been a while since I Blogged. My laptop died with all my digi stuff on it, and I am starting out fresh again, it's going to take a while lol.Time to catch up!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and are looking forward to a fantastic New Year. We have a very busy and exciting few days ahead and I can't wait! Anyway back to Blogging lol.

I tend to buy a few different stamp sets at Christmas and make lots of different cards, however this year I fell in love with a stamp set from Stampin Up.  It is really versatile and can be used for Halloween, Christmas, New Home and many more options. So here are a few of the Christmas cards I made using them.

This first quickie post is a card I made for my nieces birthday, she loves skulls and really isn't a "girly girl" so I opted to make the card monochrome.

Buttons!

Hello, it's the 5th of month which means it is time for a new challenge over at Sarah Hurley 365 and the theme is "Buttons".

I am just loving all the gorgeous new designs Sarah has launched over at the Silhouette Store and I used one of them to make my card.

This Circle Steampunk Cogs Page Mat is designed for a 12x12" page LO, but I resized it to 5x5" and it worked perfectly. Even though the design is very intricate and detailed, it still worked beautifully when resized. I popped buttons onto the cut out shape.

I used lots of 3d foam and placed it onto a piece of chevron card from an AFOMFT kit. I used the "Curio" stamp from Sarah's latest range for Personal Impressions

Ingredients
Curio Stamp set from Curio Stamp Set
Pearlised card, card blank and buttons from stash.

Thanks for popping by today, we would love it if you joined in with our challenge this month.

First Birthday Card.

It was our great neices first birthday during the week and I wanted to make her a special card with things she liked on it.

Her bedroom is festooned in lilac and pink owls, so I decided to use my Cameo to make the owl on this card. The balloon is a die cut and the number 1 is heat embossed and the stamp is from Sarah Hurley Block Alphabet.

Get Well Soon Card.

Whoops, I am running behind as usual and am using this rainy Sunday as the perfect excuse to stay indoors dry and cosy with a cuppa to play catch up.

This card is one I made for my Sarah Hurley 365 DT post. Full details are over on the blog.

It's time to celebrate!!

And what better way to do it than to make beautiful things to commemorate it. The Sarah Hurley Designs challenge is 4 years old this month and we are hosting a Celebration Themed Challenge.

I decided to make a baby card for a complete change! I am loving the different styles of journalling cards Sarah has over at the Silhouette Store and used the Baby Journalling Card as the main focus of the card. I stamped some tiny clusters of stars from the Doodle Doll Stamps and stamped them round the card with VersaMark ink then clear embossed them. I distressed the card using Worn Lipstick and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks. I cut an extra journalling card, and removed the baby word, distressed it with Black Soot DI and placed it on the chevrons. I popped the journalling card onto some 3D foam to give the card some dimension.

I used the Chevron Background Stamp, which I inked with lilac and pink pearlescent Brilliance inks, then covered with clear embossing powders and heat sealed it. Such a great look for not an awful lot of work. I really love inking this stamp up with different colours, it always looks great for a large background.

Ingredients
Brilliance Inks
Distress Inks
Clear Embossing Powder

I really hope you can join in with our Celebration Challenge this month. See you soon, Carol x

Card for a first birthday.

Another wee quick post from me tonight, this time it's a card I made for a wee boys first birthday.  The brief was the phrase "Love you to the moon and back" with silvers and greys as the colours.

The trusty cameo was used for this.

I personalised it with the wee boys name.

Hope you like this.Carol x

Brace yourselves, it's catch up time!

Whoops, I've been very naughty and forgotten to blog a couple/few of my makes, so hold on tight there are going to be a few blogs posts coming your way!

My first one is the card I made for my Sarah Hurley DT Showcase, and I am really getting to grips with my Cameo and used that to make the main feature of this card.

I used the Cellphone/Mobile Phone file from Sarah Hurley, and picked a journalling card from an add on from AFOMFT Kit. I made my background using a speech bubble stamps from an AFOMFT Kit and the words come from Everyday Sayings Stamp Set.

Ingredients
Speech bubble and Phone "screen" from  AFOMFT kits
Memento Inks

I hope you like the card, full details are over on my post on the Sarah Hurley 365 Blog. x

Light nights and summer brights.

I'm a bit late with my blog post for  my Sarah Hurley 365 Challenge make, and this time the theme is Summer Brights. It is such a lovely cheery post to look through with my awesome teamies making super cheery bright projects, perfect on a grey rainy day like today!

I decided to finally dabble in Project Life, which is quite a big step for me as I have only made a few Scrapbook Lay Outs.

I subscribe to Sarah's A Few of My Favourite Things Kit and after re-organising them I discovered so many pretty things I had totally forgotten about. How shameful is that?  I love how all the kits work well together and with other goodies in Sarah's Shop like this awesome Moustache Washi Tape! I chose to do the month of January, rather than trying to do one week, I looked through my piccies on my mobile and printed out 4 of my favourite. I then had great fun picking out papers, stamps, embellies and colours to work with. I added some dimension by layer sentiments and shapes on with 3D Foam. Here are the results.

Ingredients
Papers, Journalling Cards, Stamps - A Few of My Favourite Things Kit
Sequins, plain papers, punches, dies from stash.

Embossing, distressing and stamping, oh my!

Hello, it's a rainy Saturday here so perfect time for me to catch up with blog posts. Mine tend to be like buses, none for a while then 2 at once!

I am always so nervous making a card for a fellow crafter, and this time was no exception! On the plus side my lovely friend likes purple and butterflies so I used this for ideas.

I had a good prowl through my box o stamps, and pulled out some divine Inkylicious ones I am ashamed to say I have never used *embarrassed face*. I used a postcard stamp and inked it up with some Memento Cocoa Brown as I thought a kinda vintagey look might be nice, and cut it out. I then used Versa Mark ink to stamp on the reeds, embossed them with copper powder, then stamped some wee fairies, used white powder, then added some sparkles to their trails with silver embossing powder.

I then used Milled Lavender and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks to make my background. I punched some teenie tiny flutterbies in purple pearlescent paper to complete the card.

One of my lovely crafty friends sent me some gorgeous papers and other goodies this week, and one of the papers was just perfect for the layer underneath and the sentiment. Talk about awesome timing.

Take time!

Hi, it's a Bank Holiday Monday here today and I have had a great day in the craft room playing, I will share my makes over the next few days.

First on my infamous "to do list" was a retirement card for a male, always tricky to make a card for a fella but even worse for an occasion like retirement. I had a good prowl through my stamps and found  this sentiment in a Paper Artsy set and thought it was ideal - "Take time to enjoy the small things in life". The theme of the sentiment is "time", so I decided on a Tim Holtz embossing folder for my background to keep it all nice and simple.

I became the proud owner of a set of Perfect Layer Rulers, and I am using them on everything, even this card lol.

Ingredients
Paper Artsy Stamps
Copper embossing powder
Tim Holtz embossing folder
Versa Mark Ink
Kraft papers and Kraft Card from stash.

Faith,Trust and Pixie Dust.

Hello, I am currently enduring the joys of a pinged back and blogging when I can sit up lol. So today, I thought I would share a fairy themed card using unreleased stamps from Clare Brown for Sarah Hurley, but shhhhh!!! it's our secret ;-)

I just love fairies, toadstools and anything related to them so I really HAD to have this stamp set. I'm hoping to make a toadstool themed card soon if my back behaves itself.

I wanted to make the card as pretty and feminine as possible without it being a pink-fest. I love the papers in the Be Mine Digi Kit and used glossy photo paper.  I layered it up with silver pearlised papers for a bit of extra twinkle.

I stamped her with Memento Ink and coloured her using Promarkers and Flexmarkers(colours are in the Ingredients List) she really is a joy to colour. And no fairy is complete without some Stardust Stickles on her wings, belt and shoes. I even covered the sentiment in Stickles too.

Ingredients
Woodland Fairy Stamp Set from Clare Brown for Sarah Hurley
Papers from Be Mine Digi Kit
Promarkers; Dress - Mint,Pastel, Tea Green

Anything Goes at Sarah Hurley 365

Hello, I'm running a day behind with my blog post, but yesterday over at the Sarah Hurley 365 Blog a new challenge was launched with the theme of "Anything Goes" This theme always excites me as there is no limit to using your imagination, and you can see that from my lovely teamies creations.

I decided to use my Cameo again and some of Sarah's Files from the Silhouette store to jazz up my boring old brown leather filofax. I used the Personal Organiser Set and the Days of the Week Tabs to make two sets of page dividers.

I used papers from  A Few of My Favourite Things kit, and cut out the organisers, then took the untabbed file and merged the Days of the Week Tabs to make daily dividers. I popped some navy card behind the cut out days, to make them pop. Make sure you keep a wee eye on Sarah's Silhouette Store as there are new files being added.

Ingredients

I am really looking forward to getting my boring old filofax looking funky with these and hopefully it will encourage me to use it more too.

We look forward to seeing your creations over at Sarah Hurley 365 this month!

It's Almost Easter.

Hi, it's Good Friday and I thought I would make something to reflect the time of year it is.

I was lucky enough to be treated to a Cameo electronic cutting machine a few months ago and I still have the new machine "fear" and realised I really had to use it rather than just download lots of Sarah's yummy files.

I thought I would make a card using one of Sarah's new designs and chose the  Easter Page Mat. When you open in onto your "Drawing Area" it opens as a 12"x12", but that is easily sized down and I will try and explain how I did that.

I wanted to use a 6"x6" card, so decided to make the cut out 5.5", to do this I selected the whole image, clicked on the Scale tool, typed in 5.5" and ticked the lock aspect option.  It resized it perfectly to leave me with this.

I was feeling confident, so decided I wanted to layer the cut out, and knew I could do it easily using the Offset tool.  I wanted it to just have a nice frame, so chose 0.1" as my Internal Offset. The result was this;

You may be wondering why I am working on the right hand side of the page...this next step will explain that. I clicked on the internal image, and dragged it over to the left of the page. That way I could do the two cuts on one pass through, and use two separate colours of card;

I sent them to the Cameo to cut, then went about picking out matching backing paper and some sparkly bits. Et voila, here is the finished card...taaa daaaah!!

Ingredients

I hope this shows that once you overcome the new machine fear, you can have lots of fun making pretty things.

Remember there is still time to enter our Challenge this month and the theme is Stitching - Real or Faux.

Have a great Bank Holiday Weekend, and a lovely Easter, Carol xx
