Hip, Hip, Hooray!

Hi, what a week it has been weather wise, rain, rain and you guessed it even more rain. On the plus side it is perfect weather for hiding in the craft room and having fun.

This weeks theme over at Craft Punked is American Independence Day.  I opted to use a digi that I recently won in a FB competition from Some Odd Girl, it is the first digi I have from them and I will be treating myself to some more.  I really went for the red, white and blue theme and here is the end result.

Papers are from my stash, as is the ribbon. I made the sentiment myself on my computer, and feel it is perfect for the card.

Hello and welcome.

Hiya from Glasgow in Scotland, in Great Britain.  It is with great pride and delight I welcome you to my blog.   You will have arrived here from Karens blog.  This is my first ever blog hop, and there is a great reason for it.  I am excited to announce I have been chosen to be on the Card Cupids Design Team.  Card Cupids mission is to provide Happy Mail Packages and Birthday Bundles to children who are facing difficult challenges in their young lives regardless of their economic background.  Such a worthwhile cause and I am proud to be part of the team.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a 34 year old happily married girlie.  I live in Glasgow with my husband and our cat.  I have been crafting for a few years and started off with jewellery making, but have been well and truly bitten by the paper crafting bug.  I enjoy stamping, colouring, digi crafting, and getting inky.  I don't really have a set style of card making, as you can see from my pictures I try lots of different styles depending on the occasion and my mood.

As a thank you for taking part in the blog hop there are a couple of digis up for grabs. Just by leaving a comment on a Design Team members's blog including this one, you will be entered into a fun little give away for our two exclusive digis. By leaving a comment on each blog you will have 14 chances to win! You have until Monday, June 25 at 9pm EST (2am in the UK) to leave your comment.  Winners will be announced on each DT members blog as well as at Card Cupids on Wednesday, June 27.

Here are the digis.

Next on the hop is CG. Hope you have enjoyed your visit, feel free to pop by anytime and say Hi.

Have a great day,
Carol xxx

First for everything.

And this time it was a sympathy card for a dear friend who lost her mother-in-law unexpectedly.  I have never made one before, so tried to keep in subtle and elegant.

The patterned paper is Laura Ashley, the green is from my stash. The stamp I recently got in a swap from a friend and it is Inkylicious. I used nesties for the circles and printed the sentiment out on my lappy.

I feel it fits the sad occasion.

So much stash...

So little time :-) Is it just me that feels the more stash you get, the less time you find to play with it? Last week I got some lovely new dies and papers and put them to good use to make my DT card for Craft Punked this week. The theme is "Father's Day", as on Sunday here in the UK it is that special day where people spoil their dads, grandads, husbands etc.  Here is my card for the challenge;

I find making a card for males quite tricky, as I like to keep it simple. Though thankfully  most of my cards are quite clean and uncluttered in style.

Hope you like the card, Carol xx

Messy crafting.

Hello, today I played with my distress pads some more. I am trying my best to overcome the mess that distressing can make lol...I am not a fan of dirty fingers :)

Today I opted for a tag, and used stamps that I havent used for a while.  I layered on lots of inks, and used brown to stamp them to add to the softness of the tag.

Hope you like.

Distressing time...

But in a very good way :D I decided to have a play with my Tim Holtz distress ink pads and try a different style of card.

I took a plain sheet of white card and stamped it with a key stamp, then distressed it with Antique Linen. I used this as the base layer. I then stamped another key related image and distressed it too. I layered them onto brown paper to make them stand out a wee bit.  I made the sentiment and printed it out, that way it could be related to the card more.

I hope you like the finished card :-)

I would like to enter it into the following challenges;
Our Creative Corner - Favourite Tim Holtz technique(Distressing)
Sugar Creek Hollow - Make your own designer paper
The House That Stamps Built - 2 images,  one sentiment.

Play day.

I decided to have a play today and try some colouring in.  I wanted to try and get "light" into the hair of an image, I am quite pleased with the results.

I used a Gorjuss Girl stamp, coloured her with Promarkers, Fleximarkers and some Kuretake Art & Graphic. I played with my new Tim Holtz garland die and Co'redinations Kraft core Tim Holtz paper strips for the flowers, I joined them with a wee Tim Holtz brad.  The ticket is a Whimsy one, I love their dies and sentiment stamps. The backing paper is from my ever growing stash. Hope you like her :) x

I would like to enter her into the following challenges;
Send a Smile for kids - bright colours for kids.
Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - It's a girl thing.
Fun with shapes and more - Summer

Happy Blogday Craft Punked.

Today is the launch of a new challenge blog Craft Punked, to celebrate the theme is "Happy Birthday/Celebrations".

For my DT entry, I have made a Happy Birthday card.

I used a Whiff of Joy stamp, coloured it in with Promarkers, Flexis and highlighted the cake with Sakura pens, I used Glossy accents on his wee nose and on the flame. I used nesties to create the circles, and a Kraft card blank.  The paper is from a DCWV pad, the sentiment is a Craftwork Cards, and the orange card is from my stash, as is the buttons.

Hope you like the card :)

I would like to enter the card into the following challenges

Had a "Wicked" play!

Well it was another rainy day in Glasgow, once I got home from the craft shop I decided to have a play. I put my Wicked soundtrack on and transported myself to Oz.

Here are the results;

I may have to keep this card as I love it.  The Wizard of Oz is my favourite film and anything related to it I love.
Hope you like the card.

I would like to enter it into the following challenges;

Try it on Tuesday - Anything goes

I'm not the only crafter in the house.

And this post will show you the craft that my husband enjoys the most, and that is paper modelling.  For any of you who know him, you will know he is a complete petrol head. Anything with an engine, from bikes to trucks, lawn mowers to cars!!! If it has an engine, he likes it :)

This is a model of a Yamaha YZR-M1, and it has been painstakingly recreated using Diamond White Paper and Promarkers to colour the fold lines.  I think it is an amazing bit of craftsmanship, but I may be biased ;)

There is a 2p coin in front of the bike to show the scale.

Hubby has printed out another few models, and is deciding what to make next, I will keep you updated :)

Friday 1 June 2012

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No it's Captain Marvel :) This weeks challenge over at Glitter Geeks is "Superheroes" and here is my DT card complete with WOW, Bang and POWS.

Hope you like the card.
