Same stamp different card.

Hello, this time I want to share another card I made with the En Francais stamp from Stampin Up.  This time I was making a Mothers Day card for my sister who is also my Godmother. She loves black and white, and decided to make a monochrome style card for her.

I stamped the background with memento black ink, trimmed it up, then distressed the edges using Tim Holtz Black Soot ink and a trusty make up sponge from the pound shop.

I am really enjoying heat embossing since I invested £3 in an anti-static bag, if like me you are slightly OCD about things being almost perfect then I can highly recommend this wee bag. It really does stop stray bits of embossing powder sticking to where it shouldn't on your card.  I decided to be quite bold and use black card and silver embossing powder. I fussy cut it out and popped some gorgeous pleated ribbon on to finish it off. I am rather pleased with the result.

Ink on my fingers.

Hi, as some of you will know I am not a "messy" or "inky" crafter, well tonight I looked at all my inks and stamps and felt that really had to change!!

With Mothers Day coming up on Sunday, I wanted to make a pretty card for my Mother In Law.  It can be a trick one to make as she is not into pretty, overly floral things or pastel shades.  I looked out a stack of my Stampin Up stamps, had a think and came up with this!

Ingredients
En Francais and Sunflower Stamp from Stampin Up
Neutral Cardstock from Stampin Up
Memento and Distress Inks
Ribbon and pearls from stash.

I started off by stamping a piece of coated white 250gsm card with the En Francais stamp in Cocoa Brown. I trimmed the paper up and distressed the white card with Antique Linen, Mustard Seed and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.

I stamped the Sunflower using Potters Clay and Yellow Memento Dew Drop Inks, then fussy cut it out. My it was hard work, but worth it.

I popped on some brown ribbon, and used lots of foam squares on the sunflower to give it dimension.  I finished it off with a tiny pearl in each corner.

I even made my own card from a sheet of A4 card, and lined the card with some cream paper.

I really enjoyed making this, and will definitely be getting inky again soon!

Thanks for popping by.

Speech bubbles.

Hello, it's the 5th of the month which can only mean one thing...new challenge over at Sarah Hurley 365 and this time Nicole has picked the theme of "Speech Bubbles"

A lot of my regular readers will be surprised to see I have made a scrapbook page, I felt like a change, and after taking this picture of our Great Niece at the park, I really had to do something special with it.

As a new owner of a Cameo, I thought I should play with some of Sarah's Files from the Silhouette Store. There are lots of great cutting files to chose from, and I opted for the Speech Bubble Background as the main layer for my page. I love the versatility of the files as you can resize them to suit your project. I made it 8x8 and cut a piece of contrasting pink paper to put under it.

I stamped "Smile" and "Snapshot" into a couple of the bubbles using sentiments from the  Picture This Stamps. I loved the Chevron papers from last months A Few of My Favourite Things Kit, it is a 12x12 so was fabulous for this lay out, and means I can make a few things from the one sheet of paper!

I had taken lots of pictures of the little one at the park (she smiles as soon as she sees you are taking a picture), and the heron, ducks and squirrels and printed out a few, layered them onto purple pearlescent paper and linked them all together with some strips of punched paper. My tip is to use colours that compliment the picture.

I used a 12x12 sheet of purple glittery card and layered everything onto it, I decided to do things at an angle for a change, even the title of the page and I am really pleased with the result. I wrote a wee story on a bit of black card with a chalk marker, chalked around the edge and popped it beside the picture. I finished the page with a scattering of sequins, I used glitter glue for them, the  more sparkle the better.
