Autumn Glow

Hello, it has been a couple of weeks since my last post. And this post is for the new challenge over at the Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog, and the theme set by the lovely Jess is Autumn Glow.  I don't know about you, but Autumn is my favourite season, cold sunny days, walks in the park with crunchy leaves under foot, hot choccies and candles...oooohhhh can't wait!! Anyway, I digress, for my DT creation, I played about with Autumnal colours and used the idea of an Indian Summer and made a pretty little Red Indian girl.

I used stamp sets available from the Sarah Hurley Shop and will explain which stamp set each one came from.

I made the background arrows using a border stamp from the Borders, Corners and Banners stamp set (I also used a banner from this to stamp the sentiment on).

The girl comes from the Be Amazing Girl stamps, as do the feathers in her hair and her fabulous eyelashes. I stamped her onto white card using brown memento ink. I decided to put lots of stars on her dress and they came from the Wish Upon a Star Girl Stamps. I really wanted to put a headdress on her and used one of the chevrons from the Borders, Corners & Banners stamp set and curved it slightly to sit nicely on her head. For the first time ever I stamped the feathers onto the top of her head using the masking technique, oh it was nerve wracking lol. I coloured her hair, skin and shoes in with promarkers.

The sentiment is from Sentiment Stamp set.

Sorry to mention the "C" word.

I would like to apologise for mentioning the "C" word in August, but I really fancied a play with these stamps after I bought them yesterday on a wee jaunt to the craft shop. They have a fantastic sale on with a lot of their wooden stamps and Christmas goodies with 50% off, I may have got a few things and enabled a fellow crafter to buy some of her favourite Penny Black stamps by sending piccies to her via FB...but in my defence they were half price ;)

I used a Papermania 6x6" Background stamp(hubby kindly donated an A4 sheet of perspex for me to use as an acrylic block as my largest one is 5x7" eek) and stamped onto plain white card, I then distressed with Vintage Photo DI. I stamped out the new Christmas Tree stamp I got and fussy cut it, jeez my fingers were sore after that, I had scalpel cramps lol.  I used 1mm foam pads to give the card some dimension. I wanted to keep the card fairly simple, so added a ticket sentiment, some ribbon and some card candi.

Ingredients

Tim Holtz Ticket Die
Memento and Distress Ink Pads
Card Candi

I have also ordered loads of gorgeous new Christmas stamps from Stampin Up and will share cards with you once they arrive and I get creative. If you would like an Autumn/Christmas catty, please let me know and I shall post one out to you.

Here's one I made earlier.

Hello there, I am slowly easing myself back into crafting and blogging and thought I would share another card that I made a while ago but haven't blogged.

This one is a Get Well Card and I wanted to keep it clean and simple with some embossing and a sentiment. The sentiment is from the new Sentiment Stamps by Sarah Hurley, and the set is full of great every sentiments that can be used for lots of occasions from Births to New Home.  I embossed some plain white card with an embossing folder I have in my stash, popped some grosgrain ribbon on and some wee punchie flowers with gems on them. I opted for green as it is quite a neutral and calming colour.

Ingredients
Paisley embossing folder
Memento Ink Pad
Ribbon, gem, papers from stash.

Thanks for popping by, always nice to have visitors.

It's been a while!!

Hiya, what a few weeks here we have had at Chez Christie, started off with what I thought was a touch of lurgy...ended up in the Emergency Docs at 11pm one evening being with a high temperature and a pulse of 143 eeeekkk. The diagnosis - Scarlatina, a form of Scarlet Fever!!! I had no idea people still got that in this day and age. I can tell you, it is the worst thing I have ever experienced. Hubby has been amazing, and has looked after me so well, he has the patience of a saint!! Anyway, after 2 weeks of monster sized anti-biotics, I am slowly getting better and trying to get back to some kind of normality and build myself back up.

So, today I thought I would gently ease myself in with a card I made a few weeks ago before the lurgy struck. I made a pile of cards using the fab new Sentiment Stamps from Sarah Hurley and this one is a Congratulations one, perfect for this time of year with all the exam results coming through. I wanted to keep the card quite Clean & Simple, so embossed some white cardstock, popped a ribbon on it and stamped the sentiment.

Ingredients
Star Embossing folder
Memento Ink Pad
Ribbon, gems and card from stash.
